The Scourge and its wings

Gr1Orphaned Children receiving meals at an NGO.Many lives are taken way as the scourge gets worse. HIV/AIDS has birthed more orphans and vulnerable children in many communities, societies and families. Parents die of the disease and children are left with grannies. Breadwinners are taken away and the food support in homes cease. Hence, poverty and hunger escalates. The young generation suffers more when situations like these occur in communities. We need change and it must be ignited soon. We need to stop HIV/AIDS, poverty and hunger by making solutions that matter most in the lives of the youth. I took some time, this month, to visit a Faith-Based Organisation in Mikomfwa, Luanshya, ZAMBIA. Surprisingly, I discovered that the Project supports more than 728 orphans and vulnerable children. There are some whose parents died when they were too young (below age 5), others were just dumped.

The wings of HIV/AIDS, poverty and hunger are drawing back the productivity of Africa. Young people who can be innovative, informative, and wise are overloaded with worries and pain, hence, their creativity dies down.

We can do something to change and save our continent from the scourge. Let us create solutions together to save our future.

What can you say about this? What things do you think need to be done for change to be effective?

One Response to “The Scourge and its wings”

  1. What if we had to use peer pressure in a positive way. I mean, each youth who is not an orphan to try to influence others by gathering them together for innovative games, multimedia, browsing the internet to discover more about how to change permanently, and much more things, just to make them active. An idle mind is the workshop of terrible, ill, and unproductive thoughts. Our youth need activity.
